January Business Meeting and Awards Bidding Guide

Your SRC, Christina Newman, has created a guide for all things related to bidding! Please share this with anyone at your school planning to write bids for this year’s conference!

MORHA Updates 1/16/2012

Hey MORHA!

Hope that everything is going well for you! Thanks you all for registering in time for conference. If there are any errors or questions about your school’s registration, the conference staff or myself will be contacting you this week (if we haven’t already). Invoices will be sent later this week. The delegate cost right now is at $132, but is still subject to change.

Additional Updates:

Bid Intents for Awards are due THIS FRIDAY by 11:59pm. Please send them to morhabids@gmail.combefore the deadline.

Registration for the January Business Meeting is due THIS FRIDAY as well. You can find the link to registration on the MORHA website (michiganorha.wordpress.com). Please make sure that is done on time so Ferris State knows how many people to plan for. The final cost for the business meeting is $30 per person.

If you wish to submit legislation for the January Business Meeting, send it to me by THIS FRIDAY.

The MORHA 2012 Conference Staff is still looking for program presenters! The deadline to submit programs has been moved to THIS FRIDAY (sensing a pattern here?) by 11:59pm. Please talk to your delegates and encourage them to consider presenting programs. Also, MOCCs and MARHH-CCs are allowed to present programs as well!!!

MAA, Scholarships, and 4 Year Service Pin

Happy New Year MORHA!

As we get closer to the the conference, I thought I make sure you were all aware of additional ways of recognition such as 4 year service pins, Scholarships, and nominations into the MORHA Alumni Association:

MORHA Alumni Association (MAA)

MAA is an honorary association of past leaders in MORHA. Member schools can nominate graduating students to be inducted at the MORHA Conference. The cost for induction is $25. See Article X of the MORHA Bylaws for additional information and requirements. The Nomination form can also be found on the Resources page on the website.

4 Year Service Pins

The MORHA 4 Year Service Pins recognizes those within MORHA member schools who have contributed to Residence Life on their campus (RHA, NRHH/MARHH, Resident Assistant) for at least 4 years in college. Applications are available on the Resources page on the website.

MORHA Scholarships

Each year, MORHA can award up to two scholarships of $150 to student leaders who have contributed to the organization. One scholarship is designed to help lessen the cost of academic textbooks and the other is to pay the registration cost of a professional conference geared towards higher education. The application for these scholarships can be found on the Resources page of the website.

The scholarship application, MAA nomination form, and 4 year service pin applications are due February 1st by 11:59pm (the same day that award bids are due). Intents for these awards are not required.

Conference Updates

Hey MORHA!

Believe it or not, but MORHA 2012 is getting closer everyday! The conference website is up and running too. Check it out here.

1. Registration for the MORHA 2012 conference is OPEN! If you are an early bird and already have your delegation selected, then you can register soon and be done with it! If not, don’t worry, you still have plenty of time. Registration closes January 13th.

2. Award Bid Intents will be Due January 20th, with the completed bids due January 27th. It’s never to early to start thinking about which awards to bid for!

3. If your school is interested in bidding to host the MORHA 2013 conference, please let me know. I can assist you in the bidding process and answer any questions you may have on hosting a conference.

ADR Appointment

Hey MORHA,

It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed Stephen Weiland to the Associate Director of Records position. Stephen served last year as the Director of Finance for Ferris State University’s RHA and currently serves as the Secretary and Treasurer for Ferris State’s NRHH chapter.

Want to Join the New MORHA Board?

We’ve just elected a new MORHA Board and are in the transition period between the old and the new. We didn’t elect an Associate Director of Records, however, so there is a vacancy.
